Providing professional development specific to  veterinary education establishments across Africa.

Teaching and assessment of Clinical Skills

FOCUS

The focus of the symposium will be on veterinary clinical skills training and assessment and One health Education, needs identified by 2A2E-V.

This initiative will be an opportunity to bring veterinary educators together and build a community of practice (CoP) to support long-term collaboration in the design and delivery of veterinary educational approaches.

 GOAL

The goal of VetEd Africa2022 is to provide professional development specific to veterinary education  establishments across Africa.

The symposium will be modelled after the VetEd symposia that have been successful elsewhere in the world.

THEME

 This year’s theme will be:

Veterinary clinical skills training and assessment

One Health Educatio

As part of our joint missions to promote collaboration and enhance dissemination of innovations and good practice among veterinary education establishments, the American Association of Veterinary Medical College’s Council on International Veterinary Medical Education (CIVME) and the African Association of Veterinary Education Establishments (2A2E-V) joined forces in planning a veterinary medical education symposium at the University of Pretoria (South Africa) from 1 – 3 November 2022.

The goal of the symposium is to provide professional development specific to veterinary education to faculty at veterinary education establishments across Africa. The symposium will be modeled after the VetEd symposia that have been successful elsewhere in the world.

The focus of the symposium will be on teaching and assessment of clinical skills and One Health Education,  needs identified by 2A2E-V. We anticipate 3-5 attendees from each of the five regions of Africa with an additional 10 CIVME attendees and 20 faculty from the University of Pretoria for a total of 40-60 participants. The joint organising committee hopes that this initiative will be an opportunity to bring veterinary educators together and build a community of practice (CoP) to support long-term collaboration in the design and delivery of veterinary educational approaches
